Direct Cremation in Erith

If someone close to you has died and you are looking for a simple direct cremation in Erith, we can take care of the practical arrangements for £895. That price includes the cremation itself — not simply our funeral director's charges.

A direct cremation is an unattended cremation, so there is no funeral service or ceremony at the crematorium. It is a straightforward option for families who would rather say goodbye in their own way, at a time and place that feels right for them.

We will bring your loved one into our care where the standard collection arrangements apply, look after them respectfully, provide a simple coffin, take them to the crematorium and arrange the unattended cremation.

You do not need to know how any of this works before you call. We know that for many people this is the first funeral they have ever had to arrange, so we will explain things in plain English and give you time to ask whatever you need to ask.

If you are not sure what to do first, simply get in touch. You can start with a conversation and we will guide you from there.

Here When You Need Us Ask questions before making any decisions
Your First Call

You Don't Need to Know What to Do Next

You do not need paperwork spread out in front of you or a list of decisions already made. Tell us what has happened and we will work through the next steps with you.

Where Your Loved One Is Now

If you know whether your loved one is at a hospital, hospice, nursing home, private home or somewhere else, just let us know. We can explain what happens from there.

Whether a Coroner Is Involved

If you have been told that a coroner is involved, mention it when you call. If you are not sure, don't worry — we can still talk through the situation with you.

Who Is Making the Arrangements

We will need the name and contact details of the person we should speak with about the arrangements. That may be you or another family member.

Anything You Want to Ask

There are no silly questions. You can ask about the £895 price, collection, the cremation itself, paperwork, ashes or anything else that is worrying you.

No Pressure to Decide Talk to Us First

You are welcome to call simply to understand your options. Asking us a question does not commit you to arranging the funeral with us.

What £895 Actually Includes

The £895 is not simply our funeral director's fee. Where the standard arrangement applies, it covers the essential care and arrangements below including the crematorium fee for the unattended cremation itself.

Included

Collection from a Hospital or Hospice

Where the standard service applies, we arrange for your loved one to be brought from a hospital or hospice into our care at our funeral home in Worcester.

Included

Care of Your Loved One

Your loved one is looked after professionally and respectfully while they are in our care and prepared for the cremation.

Included

A Simple Cremation Coffin

A suitable simple coffin is provided as part of the £895 standard service. It is not an additional item you need to purchase separately.

Included

Transport to the Crematorium

We arrange and provide the journey from our funeral home to the crematorium for the unattended cremation.

Included in £895

The Cremation Itself

Most importantly, the £895 standard price includes the crematorium fee for the unattended cremation itself. We do not quote £895 for the funeral director's arrangements and then add the standard crematorium fee afterwards.

Look Beyond the Headline Figure

Direct cremation prices are not always presented in the same way. You may see a lower headline figure followed by a +, or wording such as third-party fees, additional charges or disbursements. That can make two prices look easier to compare than they really are.

When looking at another price, check whether the crematorium fee for the actual cremation is already included or whether it still needs to be added. Our standard £895 price includes that unattended cremation fee.

There are still some circumstances where our own standard price cannot apply. We would rather explain those openly now than let an unexpected charge appear later.

A Death at Home or in a Nursing Home

If the coroner is not involved, a local funeral director may need to carry out the initial collection before your loved one can be transferred into our care. That local collection would be charged separately.

Additional Bariatric Requirements

Some arrangements require additional members of staff, specialist equipment or an oversized coffin. If that applies, there may be an additional charge. In some circumstances we may also be unable to provide the service.

Hand Delivery of the Ashes

If you would like the ashes hand-delivered to an address in England or Wales, we can arrange this as an additional service. We can also discuss the available options if ashes need to go overseas.

If Anything Extra Applies You'll Know First

If your circumstances mean an additional charge is needed, we will explain what it is and why before you agree to go ahead.

Straight Answers

A Few Things Families Often Ask Us

If you have never arranged a cremation before, it is completely normal to have questions. Here are some of the ones we hear most often.

The £895 Price

Does £895 include the actual cremation?

Yes. Where our standard service applies, £895 includes the crematorium fee for the unattended cremation itself, together with the other standard elements shown above.

A Death at Home

What should I do if my loved one died at home?

Call us and tell us what has happened. If the coroner is not involved, a local funeral director may need to carry out the initial collection and that can involve an additional charge. We will explain this before anything is arranged.

The Ashes

What happens to my loved one's ashes afterwards?

We will explain the available options for the ashes as part of the arrangements. If you would like them hand-delivered to an address in England or Wales, that can be arranged separately.

Your First Call

Do I have to decide everything before I contact you?

No. You can call simply because you need some help or want to understand the price. We can explain your options first and you can decide what you want to do afterwards.
